Volkswagen Amarok ‘Dark Label’ officially joins SA range…
Back in September 2018, we broke the news that the Volkswagen Amarok Dark Label had been quietly added to the Wolfsburg-based brand’s local range. Now VW SA has released additional details of this new special edition.
As we pointed out at the time, the new derivative is powered by the German automaker’s 2,0 BiTDi engine (rather than the V6 used in the UK version), which sends its 132 kW and 420 N.m to all four corners via an eight-speed automatic transmission. Priced at R674 600, the Dark Label model ships standard with VW’s three-year/100 000 km warranty and five-year/90 000 km service plan (with intervals of 15 000 km).
The Amarok Dark Label sets itself apart from the rest of the local Amarok range thanks to its locally sourced matte black styling bar (complete with “Amarok” lettering) as well as the matte black treatment applied to items such as the exterior door handles, side-mirror caps and side-sills.
In addition, the rear windows are tinted and the B-pillars blacked out, while “Dark Label” decals run along the flanks. Smoked taillamps and new 18-inch “Rawson” alloy wheels complete the exterior makeover.
Inside, you’ll find what VW describes as black “Greenhouse” headlining, Vienna leather seats, new air-vent trim and floor mats embroidered with “Dark Label” lettering.
Standard features include bi-Xenon headlamps with LED daytime running lights, front and rear park distance control, tyre-pressure monitoring, the “Plus” multi-function on-board computer and the “Composition Media” infotainment system.
Interestingly, VW SA says the Amarok Dark Label can be optionally fitted with items such as seat heating, heavy duty suspension, a rear-view camera, “Climatronic” air-conditioning, the “Discover Media” infotainment system (with sat-nav) and rubber floor covering.
