What Toyota is currently missing in its stable is a GTI-rivalling hot hatch. With the all-new Auris on its way, it seems likely this gap could yet be filled – by 202o!
Speaking to Toyota Australia’s vice-president of sales and marketing, Sean Hanley, Motoring Australia uncovered there’s a strong chance that a Gazoo Racing Auris variant, built on the rigid TGNA platform, will happen.
“I’d like to see it as soon as possible,” Hanley grinned, “in the next three years I wouldn’t rule out the possibility or probability of something coming under the Gazoo Racing brand”.
The third-generation Toyota Auris will arrive in South Africa in the second half of this year.
