Updated version of the Lamborghini Huracan to get sharper look and more power this year

Lamborghini Huracan facelift - headlight teaser

Lamborghini has hinted that an updated Huracan is on the way through a pair of teaser images posted on the brand’s customer smartphone app, and the final item will be revealed very soon.

Spied for the first time last September in drop-top Spyder form, the 2019 Huracan will adopt a new styling package based on the flagship Performante model, with more aggressive front and rear aprons for additional downforce.

Our spy shots also confirm that the all-wheel-drive LP610-4 car, unchanged from launch in 2014, will receive a totally re-modelled rear end, with a new diffuser, taillights, and a new high-mounted exhaust system exiting above the rear diffuser.

Launching four years ago, the Huracan has since spawned several variants. These design changes are planned for the LP610-4 Coupe and Spyder models, and will likely apply to the rear-wheel-drive LP580-2 models further down the line as well. The LP640-4 Performance versions of the car have only just launched, so will not be a part of the 2019 facelift.

Looking elsewhere in the Volkswagen Group, the Audi R8 – a car the Huracan shares a large amount of its DNA with – has just been updated for 2019. As such, we expect the Huracan’s power output to increase in line with Audi’s uprated offering. In the LP610 models, this means an increase of 10bhp to 612bhp and 620 metric horsepower, meaning a badge change to LP620 and a 0-62mph dash hitting three seconds flat looks on the cards. A similar power increase will be laid onto the LP580 twins.

Changes in the cabin will likely be minimal, with mechanical changes such as revised suspension settings to go in hand with the extra power developed by the 5.2-litre naturally aspirated V10 engine placed in the middle of the chassis. With extra punch on board, we anticipate a price rise over the current £180,000 asking price.
