Remember that tuned Audi RS5 Coupé ABT Sportsline revealed in 2018? Now the folks from the Bavarian firm has turned its attention to the Sportback variant of this Audi Sport model, handing it more power and adding subtle carbon-fibre trim both inside and out.
Dubbed RS5-R, the uprated Sportback was developed in conjuction with Californian company TAG Motorsports. Together, the tuners fettled with the engine by adding ABT's engine control unit, a water radiator kit, a rear muffler package (which includes 102 mm carbon-fibre tailpipe trim) and a new air intake cover. These upgrades result in the stock twin-turbo 2,9-litre V6 mill delivering a whopping 390 kW and 690 N.m of torque (up from the original figures of 331 kW and 600 N.m).
The kit furthermore includes height-adjustable suspension, complete with sports stabilisers fore and aft, and an aerodynamic package finished in visible carbon-fibre, including a revised front grille and a fresh rear spoiler. However, if you feel the car still looks too tame, ABT says you can specify optional wheelarch vents and carbon-fibre fins to make the five-door model look "even more agressive".
Interior items, such as the gearlever, have also recieved the carbon-fibre treatment. And the "ABT RS5-R 1 of 50" badge indicates that this is a special model.
Indeed, like the coupé-based derivative, the RS5-R Sportback will be offered in limited numbers.
